A woman artist with long dark hair, wearing a dark button-up shirt, is leaning on a table with drawand looking to the side. The table has various bowls, utensils, and a potted plant with large leaves on the right side. The background is a plain wall.

Alessia Turchikhin is a contemporary artist based in Osaka, Japan.

Her work arises from a quiet observation of nature, people and places around her, capturing life’s nuances through her visual language.

Being inspired by her Japanese surroundings, in her practice she works with traditional Japanese materials such as ink and mineral pigments, or combines Japanese classical narrative with contemporary tools.

Her creative process is mostly intuitive, grounded in dialogue with nature and the subtle echoes of memory. She prefers to evoke a feeling rather than depict an object, working with shapes and a limited color palette.
