Alessia Turchikhin is a contemporary artist based in Osaka, Japan. Her work arises from a quiet observation of nature, people and places around her, capturing life’s nuances through her visual language. Being inspired by her Japanese surroundings, in her practice she works with traditional Japanese materials such as ink and mineral pigments, or combines Japanese classical narrative with contemporary tools. Her creative process is mostly intuitive, grounded in dialogue with nature and the subtle echoes of memory. She prefers to evoke a feeling rather than depict an object, working with shapes and a minimal color palette.
